Subj: VICUG-NYC Transit Workers' Union votes to end work stoppage (2:32 PM 12/22/2005)
news has just come over the wires that the executive board
of the transit workers' union has voted that union members
return to work. details have yet to emerge as to when,
and how long it will take for service to be restored, not
to mention in what order services will be restored.
it is expected that the union's leader, Roger Toussaint,
will address the media shortly. the mayor's scheduled
2pm statement has been postponed indefinitely, obviously
in response to unfolding events. again, details are
sketchy due to the media blackout agreed to by the parties
during mediation.
updates forthcoming as news becomes available. if you
want to keep up with the news yourself, use your favorite
streaming audio player (such as RealPlayer or Windows
Media Player) to open up a news stream, such as:

which is the live news feed for WNYC-AM, which is currently
featuring continuous coverage of the potential strike
resolution and the end of the work stoppage.
