Since December 2000, the eSight Careers Network and Adaptive Solutions for Independence have jointly presented a continuing series of professional development seminars, aimed at assisting blind, visually impaired, and all people with disabilities in the creation of new career and employment opportunities. Now, you can listen to recordings of past eSight Careers Network seminars via the web.

In order to access the eSight Careers Network's audio archives, you must first:

  1. be a member of the eSight online community
  2. have either RealPlayer G2 (or greater) or Windows Media Player installed

Background: The panel consisted of Peter Newman, President of Diversity Services, based in New York City, and David Price, former Human Resources Specialist, PepsiCo, and currently the weather personality on Fox Five News' Good Day, New York.)

Synopsis: Henry Leshker, Executive Vice President of Bernard Haldane Associates address the topic: How to Tap into the Hidden Job Market.

Background: Haldane Associates has over 75 offices throughout the United States, Canada and Great Britain and, since 1947, has helped over 600,000 people obtain better jobs and careers.

3) What Does an Executive & Administrative Search Team Look for in a Job Candidate?
Synopsis: A panel of senior level representatives from Goldman, Sachs and Company's executive and administrative search team discussed What Does an Executive and Administrative Search Team Look for in a Job Candidate?

Background: Goldman, Sachs and Company is a leading global investment banking and securities firm, providing a full range of services worldwide to clients which includes corporations, financial institutions, governments, and individuals with a high net worth. Founded in 1869, Goldman, Sachs and Company are one of the oldest and largest investment banking firms in the country.

4) Breaking Down Barriers to Employment
Synopsis: How do you break down barriers to employment? Celeste V. Lopes, Deputy Bureau Chief, District Attorney's Office, Brooklyn, N.Y., and Alexander Wood, Political Editor, WE Media, use their personal experiences to show what works and what doesn't.

Background: Celeste V. Lopes, who has been blind since birth, has worked in the Brooklyn D.A.'s office since 1983. Alexander Wood, worked as a contemporary art dealer before a spinal cord injury in 1992 rendered him paraplegic. Ever since, he has sought to combine his passion for contemporary art with his knowledge of accessibility issues, in order to bring art, and opportunities in the art world, to everyone, regardless of perceived disability.

5) On-Line Job Search Tips
Synopsis: What are the most effective ways to conduct an online job search? Ruth-Ellen Simmonds, president of The Associated Blind, Inc., which is located in New York City, offers tips for conducting an online job search.

Background: Ruth-Ellen Simmonds, president of The Associated Blind discusses developing a strategy for conducting an on-line job search. Several major job-posting sites are reviewed using the following criteria: accessibility, usability, and efficacy.
