Minutes of VICUG NYC Steering Committee Meeting
Tuesday, March 25, 1997

Present: Peter Altschul, Janina Sajka, Ruth-Ellen Simmons, Gregory Rosmaita, and Tom Dekker

Topics discussed included:

ITEM ONE

Topic of April 14 meeting changed to: "CBVH: Making it Work for You". Speaker: Steven Mendelsohn, Esq. (Peter Altschul will contact Don Horn to alert him)

ITEM TWO: Creating a separate listserve for the group

Janina Sajka will contact Norman Combes for this purpose, and indicated that AFB might be able to host this listserve in the future.

ITEM THREE: Publicizing future meetings

Ruth-Ellen Simmons will contact Karen Gorgey to enlist their support and determine what topic they might be willing to present. Additionally, she will publicize this meeting in "Slate" and in the Associated Blind's computer lab. Additionally, telephone numbers of those attending the 4-14 meeting will be solicited.

ITEM FOUR: Creating SIGS.

Gregory Rosmaita will e-mail Mike Mendell to establish a MIDI SIG; additionally, the possibility of establishing a "Blazie Sig" was discussed.

ITEM FIVE

Adapting Associated Blind's phone system so that on-line demonstrations can take place during meetings. (Tom Dekker will spearhead this effort).

ITEM SIX: Developing Flexible Written By-laws

Janina Sajka will enlist the aid of Steven Mendelsohn for this purpose, while Gregory Rosmaita will attempt to obtain the by-laws of other visually-impaired computer groups.
