- whilst
The Duke Ellington
Society's web site is framed, it does (at least sporadically, as of this writing,) provide
NOFRAMES for those of you either using frames-incapable browsers or who
use a browser that allows you to ignore frames when non-framed content has
been provided by the page's author... a more serious accessibility problem,
with the TDES's site,
however, remains its webmaster's sporadic use of
ALT-text
- The Duke Ellington Home Page
- Red Hot Jazz: a highly recommended site, albeit with the
following caveats: The RedHotJazz site
is: a) framed, without NOFRAMES alternatives; b) lacks alternative text for
images that substitute for page headers; and c) utilizes the RealAudio
format for sound files, which means that you need to have RealPlayer installed on your computer.
Nevertheless, the site's contents are superb and the sound files are easily
located and selected. If you have difficulty downloading
RealPlayer, you can use the following link to initialize the download routine for the free RealPlayer. CAUTION: when you select the "initialize the
download routine for the free RealPlayer" link, the download will start
instantaneously.

SoundAmerica is one of the
most comprehensive sites dedicated to sound files on the web...
unfortunately, it is not only framed, but its front page contains alt-textless links. Use the
following links to directly access the individual portions of
SoundAmerica:
- Once upon a time, Radio Days was one
of the more accessible audio-oriented sites on the web. Recently,
however, the site was given a thurough overhaul, and the once
speech-friendly text-only version of the site disappeared, replaced
by a single USEMAPped page. Use the following list to directly
access Radio Days contents. Note: you
need the RealAudio player to listen to these files.
