don't forget to vote!
(i hope my candidate doesn't!)

New Jersey Gubernatorial Election,
November 8, 2005

and here's my candidate:

Ed Forchion:

and not just for the reasons you suspect - he owes nothing to anyone (save his connection) and he won't be a slave to big oil, pharma, tobbacco, or the chemical-industrial and real estate development complexes that traditionally dominate NJ politics...

i refuse to vote for forester, and i certainly ain't voting corzine -- not only is he so out of touch that he stated at the last debate that he still thinks the drinking age is 18 (which demonstrates not only how in touch he is both with basic state laws and how oblivious he is of the federal highway subsidy laws that cut off funding if the drinking age is lowered), but:

  1. he hasn't accomplished anything in the senate, other than to pander to fund-raisers and mis-manage the democrats' efforts to regain control of the senate in 2004;

  2. he has no vision for NJ;

  3. he isn't likely to call a constitutional convention as a disinterested party (ah, charles edison, where are you now when we need you again? -- oh, that's right, he's been feeding the worms for at least 30 years); and

  4. if corzine is elected, then the citizenry of new jersey will have a completely undemocratic (albeit, ironically, democrat) senatorial delegation -- lautenburg having been added to the ballot extra-legally after the withdrawl of torrecelli, who had already won the primary, and whomever is appointed to replace corzine should he be elected will be a party creature hoping to get the incumbent's leg-up on the next senatorial election...

it's bad enough having no choice at the top of the ticket, but having a completely unrepresentative senatorial delegation, with neither senator having been selected democratically by the people of this state is the final straw -- stop holding your nose and voting for the lesser of 2 evils -- they are both evil robber-barons, with no scruples -- or, i might add, personality... besides, i'm sick of having to spend two years researching just how small a fraction of a percentage that my candidates won in NJ elections (i usually vote straight socialist workers, as i could use some redistribution of wealth), but the "weedman", as he's been dubbed, is gaining political traction -- at least as much as the write-in-codey-for-governor campaign, so don't think of it as wasting your vote -- think of it as a vote in favor of getting wasted...

don't hold your nose, voters of new jersey -- hold your breath for as long as you can, then exhale slowly; repeat as necessary... i have the distinct feeling that whoever wins tonight, i won't be the only jerseyman running that particular drill...
