    Because of the repeater we were able to communicate over the entire area that the race encompassed. Given the the fact that we were down between the hills this would have been a very difficult communications feat with out the use of the repeater.

The course is 10.6 miles long and takes about 2 1/2 hours. There are 3 short portages around the locks. These are on the tow path, which is graveled, and are about 100 yards long each.

The race will begin at 10:00 at the canal house on Blackwells Mills Road and finish at the historic Van Wickle house on Eastern Avenue in Franklin ( just off interstate route 287 south of Rutgers prep school). Classes will be set up based on entries received before November 10th. There will be at least 3 classes: Tandem, Solo Kayak and Solo Canoe. Awards may be given through 5th place.

Holiday Sale at the Blackwells Mills Canal House: The holidays are just around the corner so get in the spirit and stop by the historic canal house on the corner of Blackwells Mills and Canal Road in Franklin Township for this annual sale. You’ll find unique antique treasures, collectibles, household items, gift suggestions, children's books, baked goods and more. The house will be open on Saturday, from 10 - 4 and Sunday, from 12 - 4.
