Authors, experts and futurists, Paul and Sarah Edwards are widely recognized as the nation's Self-Employment Experts. Since their best-selling book Working From Home was published in 1985, the Edwards have been the subjects of scores of articles in such publications as the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, Business Week, Newsweek.
Working From Home is now in its fourth edition and the Edwardses have written six other top-selling books: Teaming Up, Secrets of Self-Employment, The Best Home Businesses for the 90s, Getting Business to Come to You, Making Money with Your Computer At Home, and Finding Your Perfect Work: The New Career Guide to Making a Living, Creating a Life. As a collection, these books provide the tools needed to earn a successful living in harmony with one's interests, values, priorities, and dreams.
The Edwards have been retained by such corporations as Avery-Dennision, Canon, DuPont, Epson, Fuji, Hewlett-Packard, Mail Boxes Etc., Microsoft, NYNEX, Sears, US West, and Xerox for their expertise. In addition, they have been keynote speakers for many professional and trade associations and have appeared on radio and TV in nearly 100 US Cities, including national programs like Donahue and the Today Show.
Paul, who is an attorney, and Sarah, who is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, brought their careers home in 1974, and in 1980 began researching the work at home phenomenon. At the time there were approximately 6 million home offices, but with the advent of personal computers, the Edwards realized that society was shifting and that what they describe as the open-collar workforce was emerging. Today, the full-time self employed home-based work force is calculated at over 25 million people.
The Edwards predict that the self-employed home-based work force will continue to grow for the next fifteen years. These companies will provide the backbone for the emerging economy just as companies that began at home like Disney, Ford, Hewlett-Packard, and Microsoft shape today's economy.
Paul and Sarah Edward host their own television show in the Home and Garden Cable Network and their own radio show in the Business Radio Network. They also write a monthly column for Home Office Computing Magazine, and manage the Working From Home Forum on CompuServe Information Service. They live and work at their home in Santa Monica, California
