Due to construction at our current meeting site, the Manhattan offices of Lighthouse International, VICUG NYC has suspended its regularly scheduled General Membership Meetings until further notice. This situation will persist (at least) through the Summer of 2007. Whilst every effort is being made by the Executive Committee to locate another appropriate meeting venue (either temporary or permanent) for VICUG NYC, please make use of VICUG NYC's emailing list, VIC-NYC@columbia.edu as a virtual meeting place -- not only to inquire about specific problems or products, but as a means of keeping VICUG NYC the strong, peer-support organization that YOU have created over the past eleven years.
Please check this space regularly, or call the VICUG NYC HotLine: 1 212 502 7664, to keep abreast of the latest developments.
Welcome to the VICUG NYC web site. Hopefully, you have accessed this web site because you, or someone you know, are interested in becoming involved with a peer support organization for blind and visually impaired computer users of all skill levels in the New York City area. Similar support groups exist in Boston, Chicago, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, Wilkes-Barre (Pennsylvania), and Kansas City--to name but a few. This site has been created to foster the growth of a strong and supportive network of access technology consultants, educators and computer users in the New York Metropolitan area.
VICUG NYC normally meets from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on the second WEDNESDAY of every month, at Lighthouse International's Manhattan office, which is located at 111 East 59th Street, on the north side of the street, between Lexington and Park Avenues. If you have any questions about subway lines and bus stops in the vicinity of Lighthouse International's Manhattan offices, please call the Lighthouse directly: 1 212 821 9235 (or 1 800 829 0500 outside of the 212 area code).
Please note that, whilst the venue of future meetings has stabilized, the date and time, as well as the frequency, of future General Membership Meetings may suddenly switch. And, remember, effective Spring 2005 until futher notice ALL of VICUG NYC's General Membership Meetings have been suspended.
