April 29, 1999 marked the One Hundreth Anniversary of the birth of Edward Kennedy Ellington, better known as "the Duke". The graphic contains a sepia-tone photograph of the Duke as a young boy, with musical notation in Ellington's handwriting and the number one hundred super-imposed on the photograph.
